Ray has just heard from Craig that Brummie Pete has died.

Cause of death is unknown at present but apparently he was getting ready to ride and just dropped.  There will be a post mortem to establish more.

Terribly sad news, Pete was a good un with a heart of gold.

Sad indeed and shocking for family and friends to have one drop so suddenly.

Earlier today we (Heather m n Ei - my wicked step mother) were driving back from the Start bay Inn and a fish n chip lunch and I started talking about the lane that runs over the view of Blackpool Sands.  I talked about and said Brummie P's name within that chat today.  Odd.  He was a character and full of life .... very sad news

Absolutely stunned at that news. He wasn't that old either and quite the character.

Great photos Tim - Pete was definitely a character who will be sadly missed. I believe he was 55. Anyone hears about funeral details I'd appreciate knowing. Thanks

Peters family are looking to see if people would be avaliable to lead a procession of enduro bikes through Bishopsteignton to Red Rock Brewery where they are having a humanist funeral, and then follow on to the crematorium in Torquay (Hele Road).

His family don’t have contact numbers for everyone so if your interested we can pass your number on….

I too would like to make the ride, he was a lovely bloke who was a master of taking the piss but never nasty.

I told him I had a new go pro knock off which I said felt quite heavy so it must be good quality.
Pete replied " well **** me Simon a brick is heavy "

Craig hasn’t mentioned a date yet but I think the barn part is correct followed by the crematorium in Torquay. 👍🏻

The date came from the fam Sam so we can assume it's good.

What's occuring with the convoy?

Gentlefolk - Dave has been asked to possibly provide some words for the Celebrant at Pete's Humanist funeral.... a starter for ten below possibly to be sent from the SDTR collective by Dave

"In the small dirt bike fraternity that is the SDTR, Pete was larger-than-life as a characterful and good bloke. Always full of fun, smiling and thoroughly enjoying his forays into the green lanes. He had time for everyone and was genuinely concerned about others. After the bikes were put away and a few beers were shared his great humour, wit and sense of fun was evident for all to witness; even many seated on nearby and not so nearby tables were treated.

Pete was a lovely bloke who was a master of taking the piss but never nasty. One of our number told him they had a new go pro knock off camera which felt quite heavy so it must be good quality. Pete replied " well **** me mate a brick is heavy "

A good communicator.... "

(note to editor or celebrant the above camera example is definitive of Pete's quick wit in identifying the need to help the camera owner understand the circumstances, the camera owner is known to be febrile minded...)

ALL - It seems words are needed by close Monday eve and I believe Tim and Dave will vett final draft.

Over n out and away

Add to amend or delete as you and others see fit offer this as a starter for ten....

Peter you ****in willy I stand by my camera quality control test,

I had 18 months of fuzzy images and muffled sound from my CONTOUR camera. Not bad for 40 nicker tho now it only turns on for maximum 6 seconds.

I think we should mention the way B Pete was always willing to help his fellow man tho I use the word man very loosely, I fondly remember him riding an old KTM up a grassy knoll in Cornwall whilst the owner sat at the bottom making daisy chains using his own bellybutton lint. Peter blasted it up the hill one handed whilst muttering the words " Can his wife ride "

He was also willing to share his extensive knowledge of motorcycle maintenance, I remember waiting outside F's house whilst Sam was fixing his chain with something called a chain split link which blew my mind 🤯

Peter was giving his bike a quick oil check I said "I always add a little bit extra mate." he replied

" Tw4t! Course you ****in do just after you put your giant shoes and red nose on"

What a lovely guy. We'll all miss him for sure x

Simon you should ask your next lady friend to give you a hot and coldey…

if you need further info then please ask Tim who will happily explain and I’ll just say this,

it involves an ice cube, a cup of tea and her mouth… and to blow your mind further Pete said she was a copper in uniform!!!!

Well I'm at the front riding my 2 Beta Alphas wearing a fire proof all in one suit looking very much like Steve Mcqueen.

You sir are right at the back dressed as a. Lady copper with a gob full of ice cubes.

Hi All
The procession is leaving petes house at 2.00pm. Can we meet there from 1.30. We have been asked if a few can go ahead to stop traffic on way as bit narrow in places through village. I'm happy to do this but 2 others would be helpful. After humanist funeral we have been asked if can lead again as far as Penn Inn Roundabout where the family will continue to the crematorium for private gathering and we can head back to brewery.
Thanks Craig

What's the dress code?

Is a packet of Kleenex tissues a must have?

Someone's gotta think.

My takeaway memory from the pre-meet at Pete's funeral where the bikes gathered to lead the hearse.

Tim n Simon were there when I arrived and apart from kiwi Craig we collectively recognised no one. We ended up chatting to Pete's ex Sarah who has organised the whole day and it is mentioned amongst the small talk that we recognise no one else. I think twas Tim but may have been Simon said Pete obviously knew lots of small groups of folks who were unknown to one another - as there were lots of distinct small groups amongst the thirty to forty bikes gathered at the time...

It was definitely Simon who then said ... "I wonder if a bunch of poofters will turn up?" How she and we laughed.

I'd suggest there are few folk who could deliver that line in the circumstances hence i thought it should be recorded. Twas excellent

All I remember is grinning n laughing at the pre funeral meet...which was unexpected given sadness of the occasion a bonus of a Black cat story and 330 bikers digging a grave was almost too laughably much

With you there P, the kids are a credit to BP and Sarah.  And what a chuckle we had waiting for the coffin to arrive at Pete's place.  I was thinking only this morning that you can't beat a good laugh to reset the system.

And a memory that just came to me, we were out on a ride and had just dropped down that long grassy field with the radio mast, near Halberton.  The grass was wet and I, like a chump, slid off and twisted my knee.  Manfully carrying on dispite the injury, I was stopped by a little bloke in the lane with a silly little dog.  He'd let it off the leash and went into a panic trying to catch it as we approached.  He gave me a lecture on speeding in the lanes and my complete disgregard for all but myself etc. etc.  I tried to reason with him but lost interest due to the pain and rode on.  Next up was Brummie Pete, whom he also stopped.  Pete gave the bloke full instructions in the manner to which he could feck right off, and how he should do it with all due haste.  The tw@t was dumbstruck and the rest of the party tootled past without hinderance.

I miss that grumpy northern git.

Simon was a model of propriety Sam, just unable to stop himself blurting out the gay bikers stuff.

We expect nothing less and nothing more from him.

He is, after all, SuperC0ckle.
